I recently stumbled upon a great read on Electric Lit (Medium) on the topic of flash fiction. The State of Flash Fiction is a conversation between David Galef, author of Brevity, A Flash Fiction Handbook (which looks sweet, but pricey) and Len Kuntz, a fiction writer and editor at Literary Orphans. This is a great little piece on flash with some good name dropping and examples if you want to discover some new writers.
And listen up short fiction writers! Recommended Reading, Electric Lit’s fiction magazine, is “opening general fiction submissions for previously unpublished work for two weeks from September 20th to October 4th.” 2,000 to 10,000 word pieces accepted, and it pays $300.
