If you follow me on Facebook or subscribe to my newsletter, then you already know that Monday was an exciting day for me, as my eBook Essential Meditations for Backsliders went live on Amazon.
Have you ever felt like a hypocrite? Honestly, I feel like one more often than I care to admit. In the past decade I’ve revisited the same sins and behavioral patterns like a kid who keeps getting back in line for the Tilt-a-Whirl at the fair.
The Apostle Peter explains that we Christians have been given everything we need–literally everything–for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3-7). Everything we need is found in God’s promises, or His word. And since we have “escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire,” we must make every effort to add a number of virtues and qualities to our faith.
Sick of being sick and tired, I made a strong effort to deal with my lukewarm faith. Writing Essential Meditations for Backsliders (with pen and paper) was a way to preach to myself as I dug through the Bible looking for Scriptures to teach, reprove, correct, and train myself in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Early on in the writing I had wished for something I could hold in my hand and reread as needed. Monday marked a major step in that direction for me. In the coming month I will be reformatting my text and designing the rest of the cover for the print version.
My second wish during the course of drafting this book was to have something helpful for others who also struggle with backsliding. Sin is exceedingly deceitful and we need to help one another. It’s my prayer that this book would help you as much as it helped me in writing it. Right now it’s only $2.99 for the Kindle version on Amazon, and if you’re not technologically savvy, you can grab the Kindle app for free on your computer and just about any kind of phone or tablet.
