Hey there! I’d like to take a moment to thank those of you who have stopped by my author site to check it out. Obviously there isn’t much going on here yet. But there will be.

Since I got my domain set up in April, I’m actually pretty content with all I’ve been able to accomplish. Here’s a short list:

  • I registered genebrodejr.com and set up the basic look after playing with some samples in the weeks prior on wordpress.com (I had some hang ups and had to use some CSS to get the right fonts, but I have yet to figure out how to change the ugly mustard yellow text to the red I want).
  • I spent the past three weeks recovering from a partial toe joint replacement, so I was able to finalize Essential Meditations Volume 1: 40 Devotions for Backsliders. It’s docked on Amazon KDP waiting for me to get a cover for it.
  • I have been networking with others on social media to get the word out about my devotional. I am also looking for some like-minded readers and writers who are into Christian living and short fiction. One of my goals is to build strong, meaningful relationships with others instead of just spattering my time and energy to gain zero-interest followers. Been there, done that.
  • Trying to create a professional looking website on a dime is tough, which is why I was completely stoked to learn that Mailchimp now offers their Automation services FREE. I have been trying to get my basic newsletter up and running but was oscillating between my free Mailchimp account and AWeber for $20 a month. Now with Mailchimp I have a better chance of creating a meaningful newsletter with some cool automated options. Keep a watch out for that.

A Little About Me

If you are a new follower, you probably didn’t know that I have been blogging for about 10 years now. I ran the Grace Apparatus from 2013-2016 and split my fiction off from there onto a blog called Writing Without Glasses. One of my goals with this blog is to support and showcase my writing, which I hope to turn into a full time career someday (even if it’s post-retirement). I am in no hurry; I’m striving for quality not quantity.

So bear with me as I unpack and get settled. I hope to have my newsletter up by the end of May, and I’m shooting for July or August to have my first book out. I have some exciting things planned ahead, but part of that requires a measure of balance and delayed gratification on my part so I’m not just slapping up meaningless content.

An Apology

If you used to follow either of my blogs before I deleted them, I want to tell you how sorry I am for doing that without notice. I always get bummed out when I see someone I liked reading has deleted their blog. That was a cruddy thing to do to those of you who were truly interested in my blogs. It won’t happen again.

As I said, I’m going slow and steady here so that I don’t get burned out. Writing is my passion, and I’m striving to balance it with all the things that matter most like God, family, and friends. Stick around because this is going to be better than it was before.
